Trip sharing today

Sharing one trip takes half a dozen apps.

A text thread for your parents. A flight app for delays. Photos in one place, the group chat in another. And to share any of it, you either broadcast it to everyone or piece it together by hand. The people who care about your trip get a fraction of it, and strangers get more than they should. And all of it moves on each platform’s terms, not yours.

The experience

Your whole trip, in one private place.

Live location, flight status and delays, updates, photos, and messages — TripTrix is being built to keep them all in one private place, shared only with the circles you choose. They’ll see exactly the parts of the journey you allow, as it happens, and nothing you don’t.

Selective circles

You decide who sees what. That's all they'll see.

You’ll set the level of detail circle by circle: exact location, city only, status alone, or nothing at all. Your inner circle will follow along live; everyone else will see only what you grant them. And you’ll be able to change it at any time, for any person.

Live and revisit

Share it as it happens. Keep it to revisit.

When the trip is over, it won’t vanish into a camera roll. It will become a private record of where you went, who you brought along, and what you saw, kept for the people who shared it with you to look back on. Even the ones who followed from home will stay part of the story.

Peace of mind

They’ll know you landed before you have to tell them.

Every frequent traveler knows the ritual: the “boarding now” text, the “landed safely” text, the reply you send from the taxi queue. TripTrix is being built so the people you choose simply see it — the flight delayed but on its way, the arrival on time, the city you’ve reached — without you sending a thing. A partner at home. Parents abroad. A friend following along. A colleague expecting you Monday.

TripTrix is being built around a single subscription that covers you and the people you choose to include — it’s called a family plan because that’s the easiest way to grasp it, but who’s included will always be up to you. And the people you invite to a single trip will be able to follow along as guests, seeing only what you allow.

Privacy

Privacy isn't a feature. It's the foundation.

Encryption only protects content. Encrypted or not, platforms still log metadata — who, when, and where everyone connects — and most business models depend on it. TripTrix is being designed to protect both layers: your content, and the metadata around it, by knowing as little as needed to run the service — never for data mining, profiling, or reselling.

End-to-end encrypted content.

TripTrix is being built so that messages, photos, and videos will be end-to-end encrypted — even TripTrix won’t be able to see them. Only the people you share with will. Read the clause →

Flight lookups won’t carry your name.

Location will be shared, never harvested.

TripTrix is designed to use your location for one thing: showing it to the people you choose. Raw location data won’t be kept beyond what your trip map needs. Read the clause →

No relationship profiling.

TripTrix does not build a profile of you from your contacts, your circles, or who you travel with — a founding commitment. Read the clause →

Who it's for

For people who travel often.

TripTrix isn’t for everyone, and it isn’t trying to be. It’s being built for a particular kind of traveler.

  • You travel often enough that group chats, photo dumps, and a half-dozen apps no longer do a trip justice.
  • You’d rather decide exactly who sees each trip than broadcast it, or let an app turn it into a profile of you.
  • You value quality, convenience, and privacy enough to choose a service paid for by its members, not by ads or data sales.
  • You want the right people to keep up, without making every trip public.
From the founder

Built by someone who got tired of the problem.

Three million miles. Fifty-plus countries. Two decades building software used in 190+ countries. After years of stitching every trip together across a flight tracker, a location app, a photo album, and three group chats, Teemu Kolehmainen decided the journey deserved one private place. So he’s building it.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

What is TripTrix?

TripTrix is a privacy-first travel-sharing service for frequent travelers, currently in development and opening access in stages. It is being built to put a whole trip — live location, flight status and delays, updates, photos, and messages — in one private place, shared only with the people you choose. There will be no ads, no tracking, and no data sales; TripTrix is paid for by its members.

Who is TripTrix for?

TripTrix is being built for people who travel often — enough that group chats, photo dumps, and a half-dozen apps no longer do a trip justice. It suits travelers who would rather decide exactly who sees each trip than broadcast it, and who prefer a service paid for by its members through a family plan over one funded by ads or data sales.

What will I be able to share, and will different people see different things?

Yes — TripTrix is designed so you will decide who sees what, person by person. You will be able to share live location, flight status and delays, updates, photos, and messages, and set the level of detail circle by circle: exact location, city only, status alone, or nothing at all. Your inner circle will be able to follow live while everyone else sees only what you grant.

Does TripTrix track users or sell data?

No. TripTrix will show no ads, sell no data, and will not track users for advertising, profiling, or monetization — this is a founding commitment, not a feature. It is paid for by its members, so your trips are never the product, and each feature is designed to use only the data it needs, only for what you asked it to do. The marketing site at triptrix.co uses no advertising trackers, behavioral analytics, or profiling cookies.

Will TripTrix be end-to-end encrypted?

Yes — by design. TripTrix is being built so that messages, photos, and videos will be end-to-end encrypted, meaning even TripTrix will not be able to see them; only the people you share each trip with will. Trip details such as live location and flight status will be used solely to power the features you turn on, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Is TripTrix a travel booking or itinerary-planning app?

No. TripTrix will not sell flights or hotels, and it is not an itinerary planner. It is a private travel-sharing service in development: one place where the people you choose will be able to follow your trip in real time — location, flights, photos, updates, and messages — and revisit it afterward. It is meant to complement booking and planning tools, not replace them.

How is TripTrix different from Find My, Google Maps location sharing, or a group chat?

Find My and Google Maps are built primarily around location sharing, and group chats around messaging — they solve parts of the travel-sharing problem rather than bringing the trip itself together. TripTrix is being built to bring the whole trip into one place — location, flight status, photos, updates, and messages — shared trip by trip: you will decide who sees each trip, person by person or circle by circle. And because TripTrix is paid for by its members, your travels will never be gathered into an advertising profile.

Is there a private way to share travel plans with family?

Yes — this is exactly what TripTrix is being built for: a private place where family and chosen friends will follow your trip in real time — location, flights, photos, and updates — with nothing broadcast publicly. Messages, photos, and videos will be end-to-end encrypted, and each person will see only what you allow, through a family plan with no ads, no behavioral tracking, and no data sales. Early access is open at triptrix.co.

Can my family see that I landed safely, without me sending a message?

Yes — this is one of the core things TripTrix is being built for. Family, or anyone you choose, will see your flight’s status — departed, delayed, landed — and the city you’ve reached, in real time, without you sending a single update. It’s designed to replace the “landed safely” text with quiet certainty, with no ads, no tracking, and no data sales.

What is the TripTrix family plan?

TripTrix is paid for by its members through a family-plan subscription — the name describes how the plan works, not who qualifies. One membership will be shared by the traveler and the people they choose to include: family, close friends, or anyone else. Trips will also be shareable more widely — people you invite will be able to follow a trip as guests, seeing only what you allow. Because TripTrix is member-funded, there are no ads and no data sales.

Do TripTrix flight lookups reveal who I am?

No. TripTrix is designed so that when it requests flight status from its flight-data providers, it sends only the flight information needed — such as a flight number — and never the identity of the person asking, or of the people receiving the updates. Flight updates will be shared only with the people or circles you authorize, as described in the Privacy Policy.

If an app is end-to-end encrypted, isn’t it already private?

Not entirely. End-to-end encryption protects the content you share — messages, photos, and videos — but not the records around it: who you connect with, when, and from where — often called metadata. Most platforms log that information, and many business models depend on it. TripTrix is being designed to protect both layers: content will be end-to-end encrypted, and the service around it is designed to know as little as needed to run — flight lookups won’t carry your identity, no relationship profile will be built, and raw location won’t be kept beyond what your trip map needs. Because TripTrix is paid for by its members, there is no business reason to collect more.
